We wanted to share an update on our ongoing talks with GTR about the possible future reinstatement of the Caterham to London Victoria rail service.
The key factor in these talks is the planned onward transfer of trains from GTR’s newly upgraded Great Northern fleet to both Southern and Southeastern. Once these additional carriages become available – expected from May 2026 onwards – one potential option is to bring back direct peak time services between Caterham and London Victoria.
While GTR have highlighted other potential uses for the extra trains, we have made it clear – thanks to feedback from Claire’s rail survey – that East Surrey residents see this service as a priority.
As a result of our conversations, GTR has agreed to include the findings of Claire’s rail survey in their discussions with the Department for Transport.
We will keep up the pressure on both GTR and the Department for Transport to bring this important service back.
