In Claire’s rail survey, many residents who use the East Grinstead Line told us that rail services have not kept up with demand since the COVID timetable change. After weeks of raising this with GTR and Network Rail, we are pleased to share that from December, the East Grinstead line will return to pre-COVID service levels.
This means that services from Dormans, Lingfield, Hurst Green, Oxted, Woldingham, and Upper Warlingham stations will run every 30 minutes all day, replacing the current off-peak hourly service.
Initially, this updated schedule will run on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays, as trackside safety changes mean Monday and Tuesday services will remain the same for now.
We have also highlighted the need for more flexibility during school holidays, and GTR is considering whether the half-hourly service could run all week at these times.
We are also continuing to push for the return of the direct services from Caterham to London Victoria. While GTR gave us some positive signals in our meeting, we will keep the pressure on to get this important service back.
Thank you again for everyone who took part in the survey – your voices were crucial in making this happen.
