U-TURN ON BUSINESS RATE INCREASE FOR PUBS?!
After persistent campaigning from pub landlords, the Government looks set to roll back on whacking up their business rates.
When I sat down with pub landlords just a few weeks ago, rises in business rates - they’ve almost doubled under Labour already - were their biggest worry, hitting their bottom line.
But this U-turn appears to stop short of blanket support for the wider hospitality sector, an industry being pummelled by an ever-expanding web of regulations and tax rises.
Like with the Family Farms Tax U-turn, why did they propose it in the first place, and why did it take them so long to listen.
We need to control spending, get people back to work, and free up businesses.
