Royal Mail have finally responded to the letter I sent in May sharing the results of my level of service survey from earlier in the year. Their first response didn’t engage on the substance of the specific issues, so I went back and requested a more substantive response – please read it below.
I’m pleased to see they have recruited six new posties. But it does feel that poor resourcing at the Caterham Delivery Office is a chronic issue; it’s the same response I received when I last visited in December 2024.
What is welcome is the introduction of new NHS-specific barcodes for time-sensitive letters. This is after numerous residents mentioned some of their NHS letters were being delivered days, even weeks late. I really hope we can expect improvements on the back of this.
I will be getting in touch with Royal Mail regularly throughout the year to request updates on service levels locally. If you notice any change in your delivery – positive or negative – please let me know at claire.coutinho.mp@parliament.uk.
