When Godstone's High Street eventually reopens, it’s important local business rates reflect that the disruption has changed people’s habits.
With the community effectively split in half as a result of the collapse, those who would have previously popped into the village are no longer doing so. Those habits will not readjust immediately.
I have written to the Valuation Office Agency to ask that they work with the local authority to introduce a cushioning period so businesses have enough time to get back on their feet. You can read my letter below
