A huge thank you to the amazing Sami from Blossoms in Godstone for hosting our meeting with local businesses and representatives from Surrey County Council and Tandridge District Council yesterday.
Sami has agreed to start a WhatsApp group for all businesses to share information and support each other, so please do send us an email or message if you run a business in the area and would like to be added to the group.
The businesses were keen to stress that despite the disruption, they are open for business – so please do continue to support them as much as you can. Business owners highlighted with SCC particular examples of signage which gives the impression that they are closed, and SCC has agreed to review signage in the area.
We also discussed how local businesses can apply to the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) for a temporary reduction in business rates due to reduced footfall. We will be writing to the Chief Executive of the VOA to make sure that this is looked into quickly and to ask that businesses are given a single point of contact for updates on their applications.
As always, if you are a resident or business owner in Godstone and need any support – no matter how big or small – please do contact us on claire.coutinho.mp@parliament.uk and we will do our best to help. Tandridge District Council can also be contacted at [email protected] or [email protected].
