I've written to the Chief Executive of the Valuation Office Agency, the body who make decisions on business rates relief, asking that they consider urgent support for businesses in the south of Godstone affected by the ongoing disruption.
At the meeting that my team organised last week, many small business owners told us their concerns that any delay in receiving rates relief would have a devastating affect on their cash flow and ability to stay open. I've also asked the Chief Executive for a dedicated point of contact so that businesses can have clear, regular updates on their applications.
Footfall for small businesses in Godstone has dropped significantly since the road was closed, so please do continue to support them as much as you can.
