Claire Coutinho, MP for East Surrey, today welcomed the efforts of Oxted Podiatry as the foot care business bounces back from lockdown.
Located on Oxted High Street, Oxted Podiatry & Foot Health Centre combines experience, professionalism and specialized technology and equipment to provide a wide range of effective services and treatments.
The podiatrist has implemented several new safety measures to protect staff and customers during the coronavirus pandemic. These include the obligatory use of PPE facemasks by staff and customers, installing more hand sanitiser dispensers and repurposing the waiting room as a reception – where the client’s temperature is taken the moment they arrive.
They are then escorted to individual treatment rooms, where they wait for the treatment. These clinics have had new plastic partitions installed to provide a protective screen between the customer and podiatrist.
They have also improved their website – to help triage patients and ensure they have not been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and have gotten rid of paper forms where at all possible.
Claire Coutinho, MP for East Surrey, said: “It is very encouraging to see Surrey’s businesses successfully adapting and acclimatising to COVID-19. A big thank you to Peter and Tina for your fantastic welcome and for showing me all they have been doing to get their business back on its feet after the coronavirus lockdown whilst ensuring the safety of staff and customers.
“Small businesses are the financial pillars of our local community and the lifeblood of our national economy. The past few months have been an extremely tough time and I am delighted to support another local business that is contributing towards Surrey’s economic Bounceback.”
Peter Allton, Clinical Director and Lead Podiatrist commented: “Firstly let us say how ecstatic we were when earlier in June we were finally able to reopen our doors. We are a small family business and it was lovely to be able to start welcoming our clients back for face to face (albeit behind masks) appointments.
“We have a lovely clientele and phoning most of them during lockdown highlighted to us just how loyal they were but equally how concerned they were to be venturing out as lockdown began to be eased. We take not only your foot health but also your general health very seriously. and having diabetes in our family has meant we're particularly sensitive to minimising risk.
“We believe we have put in place at our clinics the most comprehensive of infection control regimes including triaging every patient before you arrive and then taking your temperature on arrival. Of course, we wear the appropriate PPE and have screens in place both at reception and in the clinics.
We hope this reassures you that we are one of the safest places to visit and that therefore we will be able to get you back to feeling like you're walking on air.”
