Thank you to the Godstone Litter Angels for inviting me to their recent litter-picking patrol.
Pride in communities is so important. It’s so lovely to know there are people volunteering time to perform such a good deed for the benefit of the whole community.
I cannot understand people who litter – our neighbourhoods are our home. We need to do a better job of teaching people to have pride in their area.
We also have to recognise the need for change at local government because less and less monies is spent on the public realm to shore up pressures elsewhere.
But we can’t sit around and wait for others to pick it up in the meantime, so well done to everyone who came out and helped.
If you are interested, the group meets at Godstone Baptist Church every first Thursday of the month at 9:30am.
If you organise a litter pick in your local area, please email me on [email protected] if you’d like an extra pair of hands.
